Q: What content will I find in SRNT University?
A: SRNT University is currently home to:
- SRNT's Knowledge Center, a collection of organized, curated training and information from SRNT and other organizations in diverse areas of nicotine and tobacco research
- SRNT's Webinar Archive (members only)
- SRNT's Certificate Program, where you can earn a certificate in fundamental smoking cessation research skills and use an SRNT example study outline to start your own nicotine and tobacco-related study
- SRNT's Conference Archives, videos of selected plenary and other sessions
- SRNT’s Journal, Nicotine & Tobacco Research, a forum for empirical findings, critical reviews, and conceptual papers on the many aspects of nicotine and tobacco.
Account Creation, Access and Account Changes
Q: I’m not an SRNT
member. How do I create an SRNT University account? Is there a fee to create an
account?
A: See How to Access SRNT University
for information on how to create an account. There is no fee or charge to create an account, and much of
the SRNT-U content is available at no charge.
Q: I’m an SRNT member. Do
I need to create an account?
A: No, you can just sign in with your SRNT member ID and
password. See How to Access SRNT University
for more information.
Q: I forgot my user name
and/or password.
A: Go to http://srnt-u.org/diweb/start. Click
on Sign In on the top right of your screen. You’ll be redirected to the sign-in
page. Click on “Click here to reset your
password.” You’ll be taken to a page where you can begin the process of
resetting your password. If you don't remember your user name or are unable to reset your password, please email info@srnt.org for assistance.
Q: I would like to change
my password.
A: Sign in with your user name and password at srnt.org. In the My Profile box, click on Manage Profile. Under Information and Settings, click on Edit Bio. On the Edit My member Profile page, click on change next to the Password field. A new window will pop up asking for your current password and what you’d like your new password to be. Click Submit to save.

Q: I would like to change
my email address or other information associated with my account.
A: Sign in with your user name and password at srnt.org. In the
My Profile box, click on Manage Profile. Under Information and Settings, click
on Edit Bio. On the Edit My member Profile page, make any changes necessary.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and check the box to accept the terms of
use. Click on Save Changes.

my account.

Navigating SRNT University
Q: Can I view SRNT
University on my mobile device?
A: Yes, you can view SRNT University with the following
browsers and devices: iOS, Android, Internet Explorer 9+, Firefox, Chrome and
Safari. Please see note on Firefox for mobile below. Please also note that any external material we link to may not be suitable for mobile viewing.
Q: What browsers are best
for viewing SRNT University?
A: You can view SRNT University using Internet Explorer 9+,
Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Please note that Firefox for Mobile will download
all course components as pdfs. Our vendor recommends using Chrome or Safari for
mobile viewing.
In some versions of Chrome, the main page for each course may appear in a new window, while course components are launched in the original window. Once review of a component is complete, learners may need to minimize or move the original window to see the main page for the course.
Q: How do I access material
from the SRNT University home page?
A: The main categories of content are listed in the top left
corner of the page. Click on the name of each category to access the content.
You may be required to log in before you view certain content.
Q: How do I access
material from the catalog?
A: Click on the Catalog tab to see the SRNT University catalog.
Click on SRNT Programs and Courses in the menu on the left to access SRNT’s archived webinars (members only), the SRNT Smoking Cessation Research Certificate Program, and SRNT conference material.
Note that content from SRNT’s journal, Nicotine and Tobacco Research, is accessed via the SRNT-U home page.
External courses that have been curated as part of the Knowledge Center are marked with an icon showing a red arrow coming out of a box, and can be accessed by scrolling through the catalog entries, via the search box at the top right of the page, or by filtering using the topics listed in the menu on the left. Please see more detailed information about the search function below.
Q: How do I search for courses
in the catalog?
A: There are two ways to search for courses in the SRNT
University catalog:
Type a word or phrase in the search box at the top right of the page
OR
Use the menu on the left to browse by topic. Note there are two high-level topic categories: “Nicotine and Tobacco Basic Knowledge and Concepts” and “Research Methodologies, Skills and Tools.” Click on the arrows to the right of these categories and then click on the specific topic you’d like to browse.
Avoid using both these methods at the same time.
Note that the topics you are filtering by are displayed at the top of the menu on the left side. You’ll need to click on Clear just below the topics to start a new search.
Q: When I click on SRNT Webinar Archive, I see a page with the message "No Records Found."
A: You must be signed in as an SRNT member to view archived webinars. If you think you are getting this message in error, please email Mona Johnson.
SRNT’s Knowledge Center
Q: What is the Knowledge
Center?
A: SRNT’s Knowledge
Center is a web-based portal providing access to an organized, curated
collection of training and information from SRNT and other organizations in
diverse areas of nicotine and tobacco research. The Knowledge Center offers
links to and information on over 130 courses reviewed by SRNT's Global Research
Network Education Subcommittee. The Knowledge Center is currently
incorporated in the SRNT University Catalog
Q: How do I find the
Knowledge Center?
A: Knowledge Center entries are currently included under the
Catalog tab in SRNT University and are marked with an icon showing a red arrow
coming out of a box.
Q: How do I launch
courses listed in the Knowledge Center?
A: Courses listed in the Knowledge Center can be accessed clicking on View Details under the course
name then scroll down to the bottom of the details to click on the link to the
course.
Q: How do I suggest a
course to list in the Knowledge Center?
A: Please suggest a course to list via our online course suggestions form.
Q: How do I report a problem with the Knowledge Center?
A: Please report a problem via our online trouble reporting form. If you are having problems accessing the Knowledge Center, please email SRNT staff.
SRNT’s Smoking Cessation Research Certificate Program
Q: Where can I find out
more information about the Smoking Cessation Research Certificate Program?
A: You can find background on the Certificate Program and a
list of the 10 courses included in the program here. Please
review the “About This Package” document for each course to see a list of
learning objectives and SRNT volunteers who contributed to the course.
Q: When I close out of a
course component, I see the catalog and not the home page for the course.
A: In some versions of Chrome, the main page for each course
may appear in a new window, while course components are launched in the
original window. Once review of a component is complete, learners may need to
minimize or move the original window to see the main page for the course.
Q: I'm having trouble keeping track of which course components I've completed.
A: We recommend that you launch the "How to Complete This Package" document associated with the course you're taking, and print it out for reference. This will allow you to check off each "Recommended" item as you complete it, and track your progress.
Q: How do I enroll in a course?
A: Simply click the Launch button under any course(s) you’re
interested in, and you’ll be automatically enrolled in that course.
Q: How do I receive my
certificate of completion for each course or package in the Certificate
Program?
A: Once you have logged in to SRNT University, a My Learning
tab will appear at the top of the page. Click on the My Learning tab, then
click on the Complete tab. Certificates you’ve earned are available by clicking
on Certificate under each course. To earn a Certificate of Completion, you must
pass the quiz and complete the course evaluation.
Q: How do I get access to the SRNT example smoking cessation research study outlines?
A: Learners who have successfully completed all ten courses in
the Smoking Cessation Research Certificate can email Mona Johnson for access to seven example study outlines developed by SRNT member experts.
